CNC Basics: Intro to VCarve and the ShopBot

No woodworking experience required.Make a fun and modern light fixture in this 1-day weekend workshop designed to get you started using CNC (computer numerical controlled) software and equipment.    Learn. We'll start with the fundamentals of VCarve Pro, learning how to create tool paths (the path a CNC cutting tool takes through a workpiece), what you'll need to consider in designing your cuts, and the settings you'll use for different types of bits and material.Next up is learning how to operate the ShopBot, a powerhouse in the world of digital fabrication tools. We'll cover machine safety and set-up, basic cutting and engraving, and how to select tool bits for different effects. Includes a hands-on demo to cut out the light fixture project pieces.Make. Students will craft Shopbot-cut project pieces into minimal style wall lights. Fixtures feature remote-controlled LED lights with color and effect options.
