Pattern Relief Carving

Learn. Students will explore the applications of decorative pattern carving traditions and motifs as they create their own hand carved designs. First, students will learn carving patterns using gouges and v-chisels. Then, they can choose how they’d like to apply their carvings, whether they take shape on serving boards, charcuterie boards, or hanging panels that can be used for coat and spoon racks.Make. Students will make their own carvings of their own design and shape. Saturday & Sunday: May 4 & 5  |  9am - 5pm  |  Class will break for a 1 hour lunch each day.Cost: $408 members, $480 non-members. What to Bring: Bring a bag lunch, or you may visit nearby downtown Brattleboro to purchase lunch. Partial and full scholarships are available. He learned the mechanics of greenwood chairs by making and sitting in a Jennie Alexander chair with Peter Follansbee. He hasn’t been able to stop making them since.
