Hatchet Carving | Oct 12 (Saturday)

Skill Level: No woodworking experience required.Become comfortable with one of the primary tools in carving spoons from trees – the hatchet.Learn. In this class, we will learn the ins and outs of hatchet use and maintenance by axing out a spoon blank from a branch. We'll then learn to use the straight knife (sloyd knife) by axing out and carving a butter knife.Make. Students will leave the class with a spoon blank (ax’ed out but not carved) and a carved butter knife, ready to mix nut butters and spread jams on toast.Saturday, October 12  |  10am - 5pm  |  Class will break for a 1/2 hour lunch.Cost: $195 non-members: $165 members (materials included)What to Bring: Bring a bag lunch, or you may visit nearby downtown Brattleboro to purchase lunch. Partial and full scholarships may be available.
