Artist's Talk with Paul Bowen: Found Sculpture

A Special Evening Presentation and WorkshopWales-born artist Paul Bowen has spent decades collecting materials on Cape Cod and around his Vermont home to convert into unique and intriguing creations. He crafts his abstract sculpture from scavenged wood, rusty nails, wire, rope and other found items. Whether large-scale wall hangings or smaller, intricate figures, his work merges sharp, geometric, abstract shapes with the rustic imperfections of wood shaped by water and time. This is a special invitation to see into the sources of inspiration, drawings, raw materials and construction methods that this sculptor has used for almost fifty years. After a presentation, participants will be invited to build their own small scale wood sculptures with provided hand tools and materials. All skill levels are welcome.Paul will also be teaching a Beginning Wood Sculpture class, Monday evenings starting November 28th.Co-sponsored by the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center.See Paul's work on Instagram and his website.Artist's Talk with Paul Bowen: Found SculptureThursday, November 17  |  6pm - 9pm Cost: Free.
