CNC Basics: Intro to the Glowforge Laser Printer

No woodworking experience required.What can you do with a Glowforge laser printer? You can make an endless variety of useful, beautiful, and practical things from a bunch of different materials like leather, fabric, acrylic, paper, and our favorite - wood. Take your first steps towards learning how in our absolute beginner's class.Learn. We'll start with basic machine functions and safety, how to line up and secure materials to the main bed, and how to set up the camera for scanning your own custom images. Students will also learn which materials are safe to use on a CO2 laser printer (and which are not).Next we'll use the Glowforge app to learn three methods for incorporating graphics and text into a format for use with the laser, ending with a brief exploration of third party graphics programs suitable for use on the Glowforge and other CNC (computer numerical controlled) machines.Make. Students will make and take home a Shoji votive candle holder with choice of clear, frosted or decorative panels.
