Bandsaw Box: Intermediate | Sept 7 & 14 (Two Half-Day Saturdays)

Skill Level: Prior experience working with the bandsaw is required.Make a unique curve-shaped box using one of the most versatile tools in the woodshop: the bandsaw.Learn. We'll start by reviewing bandsaw basics: machine safety, operation, and hands-on practice cutting wide and tight curves. Next you'll cut out your own bandsaw box, following a template applied to a block of wood. Subsequent steps include cutting out the drawer, smoothing the various parts, glueing up the pieces in proper order, sanding and smoothing, and finally choosing a finish to apply. This class consists of two sessions a week apart. Some self-managed effort related to glue-up and sanding between sessions will be encouraged in order to complete the project.Make. Ten years ago, with time on his hands after retiring from a career in adult education, and inspired by a curved-frame mirror he purchased in Costa Rica, he began a more serious wood-working practice. He has made dozens of bandsaw boxes and is looking forward to conducting this class.
